Agreed. Bad PR.
Oh, and the banning for famming isn't an urban legend. One guild did get in trouble with this during the World Championships like 16 months ago.

i fail to see why people care if you get ranked after losing. Cry less please. You must be the people that call the winning team noobs.

I've never gotten in trouble for ranking people in RA either. Although I normally only do it to Touch Rangers, cuz they deserve it.

Sportsmanship is conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports, especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing and winning. Poor sportsmanship is "rubbing salt in the wounds" of the losers among other things. Decent players never rank.

Who cares? It appeals to the average 15 year old casual PvE/PvPer. And that's the majority of Anet's market.

Ok, so someone ranks you after killing them. So what? Let them feel big and mighty, ignore them and move on.

Now, I remember times when someone could get reported then de-ranked and/or temp banned for making rank emote over enemy's dead body in HA because of unsportsmanlike behaviour.
How come, now ANet encourages players to do such things?
|
Because no one has ever been deranked or banned for it, its just pve whiners crying.

I'd like to see a massive group of people stop playing for some time. That'll get ANet's attention.
Nonetheless, I stopped doing AB because it bored me with people using builds that are all the same just got more annoying than anything.
Once I get to where I've set myself up to getting toward, I'll mostly just end up roaming around until GW2 comes. Once that comes, I'll wait two more months to see how the game is.
I've been getting the same vibes as I've had for a while now from ANet:
1) Fill your Hall of Monuments. We'll supply plenty of titles and added things and you can fill it up to max so your experience in GW2 will be rewarded greatly.
2) We want you to play GW2 because our decisions on how the gameplay, skills and experience you have are derived to making you dislike GW1 so that GW2 will be your next best choice.
3) The phrase "I'm bored" can be erased with what we feel people want to do. You do the missions, you do the quests... now do something we hope you'll like that is "different" and "challenging" for the time being.

You give someone the ability to /rank in game and then say they can't, that doesn't make sense.

It's actually a skill used by Charr vs them just "tea bagging" you.

I don't know if anet ever had an official stance on ranking corpses, but they certainly don't seem very serious about it now. I mean, come on, charr in EotN rank your corpses! I found that hilarious. Anet obviously picked up on the "in-game culture" and made a joke about it. And from there it's not far to actually embracing the trend and using it to promote the new emotes.
IMO people are way too touchy about this.
|
I agree with everything in this the above statement.
In FPS Games like Counter Strike you could spray paint, in other games there were verbal taunts and such. I see ranking someone as much the same.
/tiger your corpse

Well considering the new emote is even more meaningless than rank emote, anyone corpse humping with it is must be awful.

But seriously, if you use this emote in that way, you really won't impress anyone, apart from people who like douches.

As I'v always said, the game is filled with unsupervised children and disfunctional adults. Hence why I don't pvp and I don't party with people. H/H solo ftw!
These emotes are nothing new, just another way to express immaturity. Good sportsmanship does not exists anymore.
Yet another reason Offline gaming will always be better than online gaming.

LOL you think gw is the only game with "unsupervised children and dysfunctional adults" lol @ you my friend before you start stamping your foot and prompting your statements forward you might want to broaden your experience to other MMO's and see what they like. You sir need to sit down and and think about what you want in a game if playing with your self is your thing then i dont think you should come onto forums and complain about online gaming unplug your cable right now after reading this and never return to any MMO forum again cause being part of the forum is also being part of the game... lol your just another "i didnt get what i paid for.. never satisfied customer" i think the people on the net are alright you choose how they effect you!! so man up a little and stop QQ all the time
